"Realize deeply that the present moment is all you will ever have." Eckhart Tolle
Practicing mindfulness, present moment awareness, and self-compassion can be deeply effective for those who struggle with anxiety and depression. We get stuck when we live in the future or in the past because those states of mind keep us from being able to truly enjoy the present moment. We often become trapped in negative thought patterns and repeat unhealthy coping mechanisms in the hopes of freeing ourselves from these familiar but unhealthy ways of thinking. I like to create space for my clients to recognize when they are under the trance of old patterns of thinking and challenge them to become curious about how these patterns are no longer serving them in their lives and relationships with others.
